McDonald's Restaurant
Design and retail construction
Multiple Locations
Ray Kroc opened the first McDonald's franchise in 1955 and today there are over 30,000 restaurants worldwide. McDonald's objectives were to modernize older McDonald's buildings with a fresh new look, while still maintaining the primary iconic sign design and exterior facade elements. The restaurant sign design had to carry the restaurants into the next decade and follow their unique "Forever Young" branding.
I-5's restaurant design challenges included creating a sign design that was both reminiscent and modern. The restaurant sign design would have to work with existing structures and rooflines. The restaurant signage solution needed to be practical - low maintenance and minimize onsite construction time.
I-5 rose to the challenge with a well-thought-out restaurant exterior signage plan that met the design criteria established by McDonalds. By combining our restaurant sign design and manufacturing capabilities we were able to create both high-impact change to the restaurants and ensure long-term durability by manufacturing the aluminum signage facade structures at our facility. I-5's restaurant design was able to utilize the existing structure and rooflines. By minimizing the external facade structural changes we were able to streamline municipality permits and greatly reduce the sign design project time. Our restaurant design could be applied to many different locations and appease city planners with our ability to easily change out natural textures and signage colors. The restaurant design solution resulted in a beautiful sign design project completed ahead of schedule and on budget.
This project includes exterior signage design, channel letters, exterior façade upgrade, eyebrow awnings, brick wall bases, & metal awnings. This project was done in several locations over the US.
McDonald's
Houston, Texas
I-5 was able to customize the new McDonald's design to create a look that was unique to Houston's restaurant needs. Our design team and production team worked hand in hand during the designing process to create a solution which utilized the existing building structure and rooflines and minimized construction changes. This enabled the permit process as well as the installation to work seamlessly which cut the install time to enable minimal impact on the client's customer flow.
