This new Steakhouse and Cantina that is located inside of the Route 66 Casino was themed around the old 1958 Robert Mitchum movie called Thunder Road. The goal for Thunder Road was to create a new restaurant design concept that was a destination draw in its own right and would increase existing customer loyalty. The theme combined both southwest décor and old Route 66 imagery to create an exciting and entertaining dining environment. Above the bar is an old style police car on a mechanical lift in order to rise into the ceiling and reveal the stage where bands perform. Every wall features exciting elements from the moonshiner’s car crashing through the wall and projecting itself above the dining area to a thirty-foot tall mural illustrating different scenes from the movie. The completed project includes replica I-Beam overhangs, custom chandeliers, classic neon signage components, rustic wood trellis elements, large format wall murals and many more.
