Bear River Casino

Loleta, California

Project Objectives

Bear River Casino wanted a completely new custom designed decor package with a complex integrated HVAC system for their 10th anniversary celebration. This included the main casino floor, their gaming floor expansion and the Hotel interior entrance to the Casino. The new casino design incorporated the latest state of the art color changing lighting technology to give the property a "Las Vegas" atmosphere. The new HVAC system eliminated smoke from the gaming floor, separating the casino from all of the local competition.

Design & Planning

I-5 Design started by going on site with digital 3D scanning equipment. The information gathered with the scan allowed the design team to create a highly accurate 3D model. I-5 worked with the Casino & Tribal Management to create the exact look and atmosphere they were looking for.

I-5’s design package for Bear River Casino included wall and ceiling color palettes based on the existing floor colors, and relevant imagery and artwork incorporated into wall murals and accent elements. Lighting was upgraded throughout including programmable color changing LED accent lighting, cove lighting, and custom designed and illuminated signage. The interior received updated suspended ceiling treatments, specialty faux wood beam system, soffits and lowered decor applications, decorative pillars and cluttered stone, wall treatments, decorative metals and wood finishes. All of these items were designed to disguise the HVAC system that can produce the clean air and help create the comfortable Las Vegas atmosphere the Casino Management desired for their clients.

Build & Install

The casino management and sub contractors worked together with I-5 to create a phased implementation plan that allowed for the least amount of downtime or interruption to daily casino operation. It also allowed for a project that was installed before the expected completion with plenty of time to spare for 10th anniversary preparations.

Preparing for the on-site renovation began with manufacturing and pre-assembling the specialty decor items in I-5’s state-of-the-art manufacturing facility. With a digital 3D scan of the property, detailed design and architectural drawings, each element of the casino design was fabricated directly from the digital design files to ensure a perfect fit in the existing space when I-5 arrived on-site for installation. The architectural elements were also pre-assembled in our facility where the integration of programmable LED lighting and custom finishes, specialty finishes, and the overall presentation were fine tuned before shipping and arriving on-site. This allowed for a very smooth and efficient implementation, and maximized the visual impact of the renovation.

Finished Project

The entire four phase on-site renovation project took just 7 weeks, with very little downtime to casino operations, and completed with enough time for the Casino management to prepare for other aspects needed for the 10th Anniversary Celebration. "Our property really looks outstanding - a class ahead of our competition." - Bruce Merson, CFO

All the onsite work was clearly partitioned off and closely regulated to ensure the best presentation for the property and safety for guests throughout the project. I-5 treats the on-site install as a performance that allows for the Casino to market the renovation and build anticipation for the staff and guests. Bear River Casino now has a clear air atmosphere with a high quality, beautiful and comfortable environment that creates a destination for the region.

“What really sets I-5 Design & Manufacture apart is how accommodating they are to changes and how quickly they implement them”
