Casino Pauma

Pauma Valley, California

Project Objectives

Located in Southern California, the 12-year old sprung structure required a complete remodel to produce a unified décor and theme plan that would help to draw customers and provide a comfortable and inviting destination. In addition to creating the overall casino design plan, I-5 performed the comprehensive renovation, ensuring the most efficient transformation was performed and minimizing the impact of this project on casino operations and guests.

Design & Planning

The lodge-style design was inspired by the local landscape and accentuated with an orange motif that pays homage to local history. Warm wood beams, accents, and unique sculptural and rock elements extend the theme throughout the property.

Completely new entrance façade with incorporated arched wood beams with tapered brick columns to create a dynamic porte-cochère. A commissioned metal orange tree sculpture highlights the theme and rests between the columns on the exterior porte-cochere, beginning the theme and setting the mood for the entire facility.

A custom perimeter valance was incorporated throughout the gaming floor and cashier areas with specialty etched metal and decorative wood accents. The design is extended with LED lighting that projects onto satin curtains featuring translucent orange grove designs. One-of-a-kind chandeliers and lighting elements throughout the gaming floor and dining venues create a warm glow and intimate areas within each space.

Complete renovation included a 4,500 sf buffet area with an enclosed outdoor seating area and the following additions: an all-new buffet line and equipment, a 3,000sf café, the 2,800sf Red Parrot Lounge, the 80sf Triple Seven Bar, a 150-seat dining area expansion, the brand new Asian Noodle Bar, and approximately 45,000sf of gaming floor.

Build & Install

The project was planned in streamlined phases to enable the entire renovation to be completed in 5 months onsite without the casino ever closing.

The project began with a conceptual design plan to establish the right customer atmosphere and visual presence within major areas of the property. Utilizing the existing structure and architecture of the facility created the best visual impact and most efficient project possible for the casino. Our project management and in-house fabrication and installation teams worked closely with the design team to ensure the casino would remain open for business during the renovation. The team considered both the existing conditions of the property and planning and installation solutions that would work seamlessly with the existing structure.

Finished Project

Casino Pauma witnessed a dramatic resurgence in guest traffic upon completion of its stunning property-wide renovation. Their experience with I-5 left them not just satisfied but energized and excited about the future of their property.

I-5 designed, managed, and executed all phases of this casino design project from beginning to end, starting with creation of the initial design concept, continuing through the fabrication of the custom design elements, and ultimately ending when final designs and physical structures were completed and final elements were in place. Using a “Concept to Completion” process allows for a seamless project, working with the general manager and employees to minimize disruption to guests and ultimately to the property’s business.

The end result was a project that was delivered on time and on budget for Casino Pauma. A stirring new look leaves guests feeling immediately welcome and wanting to experience more of the property. The property now welcomes and draws-in customers from the moment they arrive, provides an exciting and comfortable entertainment destination, and has delivered excellent return on investment.
