The Squaxin Island Tribe wanted to update their gaming floor to create a warm and inviting entertainment experience for their guests at the Little Creek Casino property, while also incorporating elements from the history and culture of their people. Overall, color palettes reflect the surrounding geography of the Pacific Northwest and each décor element incorporates warm lighting and specialty finishes inspired by nature.
Design & Planning
I-5 incorporated historical Squaxin artistry and symbolism throughout the new tribal casino design concept for Little Creek Casino.
Custom designed and fabricated mica chandeliers feature ”Guardian of the Sun” historic imagery from the tribe and cast a comforting glow within the space. Suspended high above the gaming floor, four canoe décor elements, spanning twenty-seven feet each, contain concealed LED accent lighting that enhances the soothing ambience of the gaming area while highlighting the custom etched metal finishes.
A dramatic new curving overhead soffit with integrated blue LED lighting mimics the flow of a river as it winds its way around the perimeter of the gaming floor. During fabrication, all finishes were pre-applied so that the custom soffit system could be installed within a very tight onsite schedule.
Floor-to-ceiling columns with natural stone accents and custom mica sconces were designed to flank the perimeter of the gaming floor. Meanwhile, existing structural columns were enclosed in a custom column wrap that featured stained wood and mica pendant lights, which incorporated tribal symbolism supporting the tribal casino design.
Build & Install
I-5 planned and performed the fabrication of the custom décor as well as complete project management and performance of the renovation for Little Creek Casino, finishing the project ahead of the aggressive schedule.
The renovation at Little Creek Casino was planned in phases so the gaming floor stayed open throughout the onsite performance of the work. This allowed customers to watch the changes happening around them without impacting business at the casino. As décor for each zone arrived on site, an around-the-clock schedule kept the installation ahead of schedule, which also included all necessary adjustments to the infrastructure to facilitate the new décor upgrade.
The old carpet in the gaming floor was removed, and a new, custom designed, premium carpet tile was installed in coordination during the installation phases. Adjustments were made to the existing HVAC and security systems to work with the new ceiling décor and lighting on the gaming floor ceiling, and walls were also painted out so the new look for the interior extended across each customer-facing area.
I-5 completed the beautiful renovation as a turnkey project for the Squaxin Island tribe, beating the aggressive schedule and completing the on-site renovation in only 6 weeks, all while keeping the gaming floor open.
From creating the initial tribal casino design concepts, through the décor fabrication and on-site installation, the gaming floor at Little Creek Casino was transformed into a high-impact entertainment space that also reflects the values and heritage of the Squaxin Island Tribe.
Working with the tribe to achieve the most efficient renovation possible at Little Creek Casino, forward-thinking solutions were designed to achieve a major visual upgrade on the gaming floor while utilizing the existing structure of the facility in the best way possible. Each solution for the project was created with the final implementation and installation plan in mind. I-5 also worked to achieve the highest level of quality throughout the finished environment to ensure a finished property which the Tribe and its employees could exhibit with pride.
