Visual impact and guest value delivered ahead of time at Prairie Band

Prairie Band Casino

Prairie Band Casino reimagined its gaming floor by turning underused space into vibrant amenities.

The leadership team at Prairie Band Casino wanted to refresh the overall image of the gaming floor to provide their guests with a better entertainment experience. Two highly visible non-performing areas were transformed into a new lounge area and a new coffee bar. Working with the operations team, a strategic phasing plan was developed to maximize the slot count during the gaming floor remodel, to maximize revenues during the project.

Location

Mayetta, Kansas

Project Size

18,500 sf

Time-frame

13 Weeks

Work Performed

Building on the owner's objective to create visual impact and a more exciting gaming experience for customers, the design team looked at ways to take advantage of the tall ceilings while introducing Tribal patterns and shapes into the overall plan. A carpet pathway was designed that wound its way through the gaming floor as well as overhead curtain elements that made navigating the large gaming floor more intuitive for guests. Additionally, a combination of large ceiling medallions with integrated lighting and chandeliers added pops of color within the space and provided visual interest, and a large custom flaming logo was fabricated to create a visual focal point for the bar.

To achieve the owner's schedule and phasing objectives, the majority of the project had to be constructed offsite. This approach resulted in better quality than is typically achieved in building elements in the field and allowed for all specialty finishes and lighting to be reviewed and adjustments made to ensure each detail was correct before installation. As the project progressed, the I-5 construction superintendent was able to compress phases of the project to accelerate the already aggressive schedule and get gaming areas open to customers earlier than planned.

The renovation project at Prairie Band was completed onsite in just 13 weeks, 3 weeks ahead of the originally planned completion date. This allowed revenues to be realized ahead of schedule and get customers into new areas. Customer feedback has been outstanding and the casino team has been extremely happy with the results.
