Ho-Chunk Grill
Ho-Chunk Gaming was looking for a design plan that would bring a "wow" to the customer entrance area, drawing customers in from the gaming floor. The design also needed to streamline the new kitchen incorporating equipment in a way that was both attractive and efficient.

Our Approach
Design & Planning
As part of the design process, the Ho-Chunk Casino team asked I-5 to propose two design options that would work within their budget and provide excellent options for the Tribe. The design ultimately selected features lodge-style finishes and a warm North Woods color palette. As you enter the space large architectural columns frame the entry and incorporate a new identity for the venue.
Surrounding the grill is a custom half wall creating a visual separation between the gaming floor and the grill. I-5 continued the half wall theme inside the grill to create more intimate areas as well as finish the existing walls with a combination of paint finishes and wall coverings.
Lighting in this space is provided by custom light fixtures that add to the warm and comforting ambiance of the venue. The existing flooring, including carpeted and tiled areas, was customized to fit in with the overall decor plan. I-5 also designed a new kitchen for the grill including ventilation, refrigeration, a new cook line, and a built-in open-flame rotisserie.
Build & Install
All the custom decor elements were constructed off-site by I-5 personnel, tested for quality, and then sent to the site. The onsite teams were responsible for the demo of the old finishes and prepping the site for the installation of the new custom interiors and kitchen equipment package. In order to meet the very tight timeframes for this project, 85% of the interiors were built off-site, this minimized construction time in the field and allowed the project to be turned over 5 days ahead of schedule.
The entire Grill venue was hidden behind a construction curtain during the renovation so the grand opening reveal would create an exciting event for guests.
Finished Project
The result of the offsite construction and excellent onsite coordination was a beautiful quick-serve destination that has surpassed client expectations and was achieved onsite in just 16 days. Casino guests were blown away with the new level of quality and finish, and the venue has produced an excellent return for the casino.
