Metropolitan Market

From its opening in 1971, the goal of Metropolitan Market has always been to be "the area's leading progressive, independent grocer — to always be the first to bring you the best." Over the years, as the market expanded and purchased more stores, I-5 Design has helped them realize that dream, customizing store signs and décor elements for each of Metropolitan's locations in the Pacific Northwest.

Our Approach

Design & Planning

For the Federal Way market, the client wanted customers to know from the moment they entered the store that this would be a different kind of grocery-shopping experience. I-5 Design worked closely with Metropolitan Market to ensure that the supermarket design would ensure a, streamlined, and positive experience for every customer, every time they shopped at Metropolitan. Elements were designed down to the smallest detail, helping secure repeat business.

MORE

Exterior and interior signage feature the Metropolitan Market logo.  The exterior features halo-lit channel letters on the building to increase visibility from the street.  Additional monument signs help direct traffic to the market.  Custom designs for departments and aisle gondolas carry the stream-lined look indoors.  Elaborate changeable chalkboards are a highlighted feature of the design.

I-5’s “concept to completion” in-house resources ensured that everything from design to fabrication to installation was completed by the I-5 team. Design intent was preserved throughout all phases of the project, and implementation was seamless and expedited. Metropolitan Market was exceptionally pleased with the innovative approach I-5 used in creating a truly one-of-a-kind grocery-shopping environment.
