Located on a bustling street in New York City, the potential site for the Blue Olive Market offered excellent visibility and foot traffic. The client hoped to create a Mediterranean-themed combination market and café. Reminiscent of an old-world village market, I-5's retail design created a captivating presence both inside and out. Exterior storefront elements invited passersby to stop and peruse the market's offerings. Seating areas welcomed customers to enjoy their purchased wares on-site.
Design & Planning
The client was thrilled by how the plan integrated both Mediterranean and classic New York retail design features, producing a novel sense of having the best of both worlds.
Custom exterior entry awnings were in keeping with upscale New York Buildings, and additional awnings allow for sidewalk merchandise displays. A classic Mediterranean-style overhang at the “Hot & Cold Meats” counter continues the sense of authenticity inside the market. Stone columns add sophistication, and custom framed artwork celebrates Mediterranean cuisine. Custom wall murals, lighting, and signage complete the overall theme.
